More Iraqi
children died in July, August
because of imposed UN sanctions

The Iraqi daily al-Thawra ( the revolution )
issued on Monday said that 26107 Iraqis,
mostly children died in July and August
because of the economic sanctions
imposed on the country.
News reports quoted statistics
of the Iraqi health ministry
as saying that 15454 Iraqis
including 8316 children under five year old
died in July whereas 10653 including 7467
under five year old
also died in August.
The statistics attributed
the reason of the death
to malnutrition, diarrhea
and breathing diseases
among children and
high blood pressure, diabetic
and cancers among others.
Worthy mentioning that number
of the Iraqis who died
since imposing the economic sanctions
on Iraq in August 1990 reached,
according to statistics of the Iraqi
Ministry of Health to 1, 543, 123 persons.
